If your holiday expectations include climbing magnificent mountains, walking behind raging waterfalls, exploring mysterious gorges, or even visiting a castle clinging to the top of a cliff, then you could not find a better holiday base for your caravan, motor home, or tent. There are many excellent restaurants close to the site for your evening meals. The site is also situated in the stunning Brecon Beacons National Park.
In addition to the wonderful natural attractions you can also enjoy the thrill of sliding down a mountain on the dry ski slope which is close by, or let the horse take the strain, and go pony trekking through the National Park!
Throw your cares away for a while, as you sit and relax by the sites river pathways and watch our gushing mountain river dodging past massive glacial boulders as it flows swiftly through our site on its journey down our valley to the sea, just 20 miles away. (A great day out is the ‘Gower Coast,’ just an hour’s drive away).
Should all the above be too much for you, then don’t worry, the peace and quiet of the site, together with its beautiful mountain scenery allows you to just unwind and dream away the day.
Simply forget about everything for a magical few days in this unspoilt part of Wales!

Prices
For a caravan/motor home there is a minimum charge of £12 per night (for up to 2 people). If there are more people staying in the caravan/motor home an additional charge of £5 per adult per night, and £3 per child per night is applicable.
The cost for a tent is £5 per adult per night, and £3 per child per night.
Included in these prices are electrical hook-ups for caravans, showers, awnings etc. An electrical supply for a tent is £2 per night. We cannot guarantee electrical points for tents as they are on a 'first come' basis and limited. Dogs are allowed, but must be on a lead at all times within the site. If they make a ‘mess’ you know what to do!
For safety reasons we do not allow cycling within the site.
During busy periods we do have a large ‘overflow’ area should it be needed, so advanced bookings are only needed during school holidays, and bank holidays. The site is open 24 hours a day, so there are no time restrictions on arrival.
Whether caravanning with friends, or enjoying a quiet break on your own, the site has areas to suit all needs!
Please pay on your arrival at the Tourist Information Centre (opening hours 10.00am – 5.00pm). This is situated within the showcaves complex, or you can pay our warden when he checks the site in the mornings and evenings.
Please note – we reserve the right to ask any guest to leave the site should any unsocial behaviour be reported. The site is not suitable for noisy unruly families, or boozy weekenders! Our site is ideal for country lovers who value peace and quiet in an area of truly outstanding natural beauty. |

Caravan Rallies
We have several large well-drained flat fields, which are ideal for hosting small, and large caravan rallies. Water points are available within rally fields, and there are solid roadways at entrances to these fields. The rally field also has a screened toilet cassette/waste disposal point in the centre of the field.

20 Most Asked Questions About our Camping & Caravanning Site
1. Where are the nearest large towns?
Brecon is 20 miles to the North, and Swansea is 20 miles to the South.
2. How far away is the nearest shop?
Cribarth Stores is 3 miles away. They sell most grocery items. For a wider selection there is a Co-Op/Pioneer Superstore a further 10 minutes drive down the valley (in the Swansea direction).
3. Do we need maps for the area if we intend to do a lot of walking?
Yes, the OS map for this area is OL12 (Orange map) or 160 (Pink map). We suggest you purchase these maps before you arrive. There are great walking opportunities in the area, but you must come prepared for the challenge these mountains offer.
4. Should we bring an insect repellent?
Yes, all mountain areas get midges at certain times of the year. Certain types of scented candles placed ‘near’ your tent or caravan can also help. We suggest you bring these items with you just in case you need them!
5. Should we bring a torch?
Yes, we are in a mountainous area, so don’t expect any street lighting!
6. Do we need sun creams?
Contrary to popular belief is does not always rain in Wales!! Remember if you are walking in the mountains you will need a high factor sun cream to protect you from the sun.
7. Can we buy gas locally?
Yes, but we strongly recommend you do arrive with full gas cylinders, as not every type of gas container is sold at the local garage/retailer.
8. Can we get our freezer packs frozen?
Yes, our staff in the Coffee Shop will be happy to help you with this. The Coffee Shop opening times are from 9.00am – 5.00pm (approximately).
9. Do we have to cook every meal!?
No, there are country pubs within walking distance (10 minutes away). Also within a short car journey there are many other excellent pubs/restaurants.
10. Can we get a cooked breakfast nearby?
Yes, the Coffee Shop at the Showcaves serves breakfast from 9.00am, 7 days a week during the tourist season.
11. Do we need boots for walking in the mountains?
Yes, they are essential, but remember, if they are ‘new’ wear them in before you get here!
12. We have never tented before – any advice?
Practice putting your tent up in your garden before you get here! Check the basics – is it waterproof? Have you got your tent pegs (See question 18)? Are all the poles/parts for the frame in your kit?
13. Where is the nearest Accident and Emergency Department?
Morrison Hospital is a 30 minute drive away, in the Swansea direction. Follow the signs to Swansea, and then look for the Hospital signs (A red sign with a ‘H’ displayed) when you are near the M4. There is also a hospital in Ystradgynlais, which can deal with minor injuries etc. during the day (01639 844777). It is advisable to ring first!
14. If we need to carry out repairs to our caravan is there somewhere locally?
We recommend “ACM”, telephone number 01269 861 885. They can also travel to the site if urgently needed.

16. Is the site a good place for our dog?
Yes, but remember to keep them on a lead at all times.
17. When do you open and close the site?
We open from April 1st until October 31st. If Easter falls before April we will be open 1 week before the Bank Holiday weekend. The site gates do not usually get locked at night. However, we recommend you arrive in daylight to help with your ‘setting up’, and also to ensure you do not disturb any of our guests already on site.
18. Do we need special tent pegs?
Yes, we strongly advise using ‘Rock Pegs’ or ‘Cross Nail Pegs’, as in the National Park the ground can be quite hard, causing some aluminium pegs to bend!
19. We are a family group, with young people, who want a ‘boozy’, music filled weekend away, will you take us?
NO.
20. Do you have a rule regarding quiet times on the site?
Yes. We expect all our guests to be respectful of one another throughout their stay with us. All guests should keep noise to a minimum during the hours of 10.00pm and 8.00am.
